Explanation:
Nutrition types are classified according to the "Harmonised Taxalist Germany (HTL) - Phytoplankton" (Mischke et al. 2020), the mixotrophy list following a literature review in Leßmann et al. (2017), Swedish Species Information Centre and Helsinki Commission Checklist Marine Phytoplankton. Phytoplankton species feed predominantly by photosynthesis and are thus autotrophic. According to Leßmann et al. (2017), a number of taxa feed mixotrophically.
